WA FIFO Civil Entry Guide

What is FIFO?

Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) work involves rotating rosters such as 2:1 (2 weeks on, 1 week off), 3:1 (3 weeks on, 1 week off), or 8:6 (8 days on, 6 days off). Workers fly to site, stay in camp, and fly home for their break.

Entry-Level Roles

Civil Labourer, Trade Assistant, Plant Spotter, Roller/Loader Support, Driller Offsider - these roles are common entry points into WA civil and earthworks.

Shutdown Work

Shutdown projects (planned maintenance periods at mines and plants) offer another entry pathway. Labour hire and contractors ramp up for short-term bursts of work.
